Quick-turn diagnostics

A scanner that misreads costs more than a scanner that’s dead. A dead scanner gets replaced. A scanner with a scratched window, a flaky trigger, or a Bluetooth radio that drops every fourth scan keeps getting used — and every misread becomes a picking error, a misship, or a return.

Conti Systems has been repairing handheld and wireless barcode scanners since 1993. Charging cradles that pit and fail, batteries that hold half their original charge, triggers worn out from high-volume picking, scanner windows scratched by daily wear — these are the failures we see every week. We service all the major brands, we repair at the component level, and we run fleet rotation programs for warehouses with 25+ scanners so picking never goes dark while repairs happen.

SERVICES

Common Barcode Scanner Repairs

Most scanner failures are mechanical wear, not electronic death. The fix is usually a part swap, not a replacement scanner.

Window and lens replacement

Scratched or cracked scanner windows distort the read pattern and cause first-scan failures. Window replacement is fast and restores the read rate.

Trigger and switch repair

Triggers wear out under high-volume picking — often in under a year on busy 3PL floors. Replacement triggers restore positive activation and stop double-firing.

Charging cradle and contact repair

Cradle contacts pit and corrode with daily seating. This is the most common failure on Zebra TC and Honeywell CT series. We rebuild contacts, replace power supplies, and repair cradle wiring.

Battery replacement and refurbishment

Rechargeable batteries degrade to half their original capacity by year three. We do individual replacements with OEM or quality aftermarket cells, and bulk fleet refurbishment for warehouses cycling 50+ units.

Wireless module and Bluetooth repair

Bluetooth pairing failures, Wi-Fi dropouts, and base station communication issues usually trace to the radio module or antenna. We diagnose and replace at the component level.

Cable and connector replacement

USB cables, serial cables, and coiled cables on corded scanners fail at the strain relief and connector. Replacement is a same-day repair.

How Our Scanner Repair Process Works

STEP 01

Submit your repair request

Use the form on this page or call 1-800-479-9333. List the brand, model, quantity, and what’s wrong. We respond within one business day.

STEP 02

Ship it in

Scanners ship in a standard small box — no crating, no special packaging. We provide a shipping label. Mail-in is the standard option since on-site for scanners is rarely economical.

STEP 03

Diagnostic and quote

Most scanners are diagnosed within 48 hours of arrival. You receive a written quote with parts, labor, and turnaround. No work begins until you approve.

STEP 04

Repair, test, and return

Every scanner gets a full read-rate test, trigger cycle test, and cradle communication test before it ships back. Turnaround is typically 3–5 business days for standard repairs.

AT SCALE

Fleet Repair Programs for Warehouse Operations

Warehouses running 25+ scanners need a different model than single-unit repair. Conti’s fleet repair programs use staggered rotation: a small batch ships in while the rest of the fleet stays on the floor, so the warehouse never goes dark waiting on repairs. We quote at a flat per-unit rate for predictable budgeting, with annual or quarterly cadence depending on duty cycle.

Fleet programs also include preventive maintenance — cradle contact cleaning, battery diagnostic across the full fleet, and proactive replacement of consumable parts before they fail. For 3PL operations especially, this is the difference between scheduled downtime and emergency downtime.

VERSATILITY

Industries We Serve

Scanner volume is highest in 3PL and logistics operations, where pickers can cycle a trigger 2,000+ times a shift. We also service manufacturing plants, e-commerce fulfillment centers, cold storage warehouses, distribution centers, and retail back-of-house operations. Each environment stresses scanners differently — cold storage murders batteries, manufacturing exposes triggers to chemical and dust, e-commerce drives continuous-duty wear — and our diagnostic accounts for the use context, not just the symptom.

Loaner Scanners While Yours Are Being Repaired

Service agreement holders get loaner scanners shipped before their units leave the floor. Loaners arrive pre-configured to communicate with your existing base stations or WMS. Non-contract loaners are available case-by-case depending on brand and current stock.

Pricing and Diagnostic Fees

Most barcode scanner repairs land in the $75–$350 range, with complex board-level work and high-end rugged models running higher. We charge a flat diagnostic fee that is credited back toward the repair if you approve the quote. Fleet customers running 25+ scanners get flat-rate per-unit pricing that prices below standard repair on a per-unit basis.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you help me set up a scanner repair contract or service agreement?2026-06-01T10:56:05-06:00

Yes — service agreements include priority turnaround, flat-rate pricing, loaner inventory, and scheduled preventive maintenance. Pricing is built around your fleet size and duty cycle. Call 1-800-479-9333 to scope an agreement that fits your operation.

Is it worth repairing my barcode scanner, or should I replace it?2026-06-01T10:55:46-06:00

For mid-range scanners ($300–$800 new) under four years old, repair almost always wins on cost. For entry-level scanners under $200, replacement often beats repair once you factor in shipping and diagnostic. We give you an honest read in the diagnostic — including a replacement recommendation when it makes more sense than fixing.

Do you repair wireless and Bluetooth scanners?2026-06-01T10:55:18-06:00

Yes — Bluetooth pairing issues, Bluetooth module replacement, Wi-Fi diagnostics, antenna repair, and base station communication problems. Wireless failures are often diagnosed as scanner failures when the actual issue is the base or the radio module, so we test both ends.

What’s the turnaround time for scanner repair?2026-06-01T10:54:42-06:00

Most scanner repairs ship back 3–5 business days from arrival, including diagnostic and final test. Fleet rotations are scheduled around your operational calendar so you don’t run short. Special-order parts can extend turnaround; we tell you in writing before any work begins.

Do you offer fleet repair programs?2026-06-01T10:54:19-06:00

Yes — for warehouses running 25+ scanners. Programs include flat-rate per-unit pricing, staggered rotation so the warehouse never goes dark during repairs, dedicated turnaround, and preventive maintenance across the full fleet. Annual or quarterly cadence depending on duty cycle.

Can you replace scanner batteries?2026-06-01T10:53:53-06:00

Yes — individual battery replacement on a single scanner, or bulk fleet refurbishment for warehouses cycling 50+ units. We use OEM batteries when available and quality aftermarket alternatives that meet OEM spec when not. Battery diagnostics are included in any fleet repair program.

Do you repair charging cradles?2026-06-01T10:53:13-06:00

Yes — and most “broken scanner” calls turn out to be cradle failures, not scanner failures. We repair contact corrosion, rebuild power supplies, replace internal wiring, and fix base station communication issues. Cradles ship in the same way as scanners.

Do you repair Honeywell scanners?2026-06-01T10:52:51-06:00

Yes — we service the Voyager, Granit, Xenon, and Captuvo lines, plus former Intermec and Hand Held Products models that Honeywell absorbed. Common consumable parts are kept in stock for faster turnaround.

Do you repair Zebra and Symbol scanners?2026-06-01T10:52:29-06:00

Yes — we handle the full Zebra/Symbol catalog, including the DS general-purpose handhelds, LI linear scanners, MC mobile computers, and TC rugged touch computers. Symbol legacy units are still common in long-tenured warehouses, and we service them too.

How much does barcode scanner repair cost?2026-06-01T10:51:17-06:00

Most scanner repairs land in the $75–$350 range. Board-level repairs on high-end rugged models run higher. We charge a flat diagnostic fee that is credited toward the repair if you approve the quote, so there’s no penalty for finding out what’s wrong.
